Gas boiler brands A–Z

This is our list of gas boiler makers you'll find in UK homes. Some are household names, and some are smaller or older brands. We add more makers and models as we check them.

Each brand has its own page. It covers their boiler ranges, common fault codes and manuals. We also link to each maker's own website.

Not sure which make you have? The name is usually on the front of the boiler. If it's worn off, see how to find your boiler's model and GC number.

Combi, system or regular?

Most makers sell three types of gas boiler. Knowing yours helps you pick the right manual.

  • Combi: heats your radiators and gives hot water straight from the tap. There's no hot water tank.
  • System: heats your radiators and a hot water cylinder, usually kept in an airing cupboard.
  • Regular: also called "heat only". It works with a cylinder and with tanks in the loft.

Brands that belong together

Many boiler brands are owned by the same few groups. Sister brands often share parts, controls and even fault codes. Here are the groups we've checked so far:

  • Vaillant Group: Vaillant and Glow-worm. Newer Vaillant and Glow-worm boilers share many F codes.
  • BDR Thermea Group: Baxi, Potterton and Main. The Potterton and Main websites now point to Baxi.
  • Ariston Group: Ariston and Vokera.
  • Ideal: Ideal and Keston. Keston boilers are made by Ideal in Hull.
  • Immergas Group: Alpha.
  • Rheem: Intergas.
  • Carrier: Viessmann.
  • Bosch Group: Worcester Bosch.
